Leon's first mission was to become a certified USCG Captain to charter his famous 1961 Rybovich, Happy Times, at Hawk's Cay Resort. Although successful, this husband and wife team decided they weren't quite fulfilling their goals. Captain Leon became known as the "Captain who wouldn't return without the fish." However, his entrepreneurial skills weren't being utilized. Captain Leon's best skills are buying at a great price to give a quality product at the lowest price.


Jenifer, a Behaviorist for parrots, took her environmental educational program to Hawk's Cay also. The misunderstanding of parrots' lives in cages has become the heart of the World Parrot Mission, (a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation) started by Jenifer in 2001, now with headquarters in Key Largo. Feeling the need to start a sanctuary for unwanted and abused parrots, Jenifer started raising funds to do so. Captain Leon, seeing this need also decided to help raise money for the sanctuary, and thus, Captain's Imports was brought to life.
